A week full of surprises! Karlovka fell for the first time, the outsiders did better
The seventh game week of the University League brought the first hesitation of the reigning champions, who were surprised by Ostrava. In the Battle of the Conquerors, the North Wings ruled, UNIted and Farmers also scored. Big wins were celebrated by the players from MUNI, who surprised the Academics, as well as the Engineers, who matured to the Black Dogs. Overall, the underdogs did better this week, which very confused the well-trodden table. There is a difference of only five points between third and eleventh place after a complete eight rounds.
UNIted defeated the Prague Falcons with a great turnaround
The eighth round of the University Ice Hockey League brought a real hockey drama on the ice of UNIted HK against VŠE Falcons Prague. The match started cautiously, but the more active Prague team took the lead in the 17th minute thanks to a power play goal by David Straka. However, the Hradec Králové team showed that they have a predatory instinct. In the second period, they showed a great turnaround in less than two minutes! First, Jaroslav Prášek equalized the score, who burned the goalkeeper after a two-on-one conversion. Shortly after, Radim Kala made his mark, whose sharp shot from the penalty spot caught everyone on the ice by surprise and UNIted suddenly led by one goal. The guests flew into the third period by equalizing the step thanks to Alan Jurak’s rebound. However, the draw did not last long. The decisive moment came in the 50th minute, when Matěj Voděracký took care of the winning goal. Three points in the table were then sealed by Marek Ladman hitting an empty goal.
